Becky Strasemeier

This week we’d like to welcome Mrs. Becky Strasemeier to our Meet Our Team Monday spotlight! Mrs. Strasemeier, who teaches kindergarten at Moores Hill Elementary, attended Dillsboro Elementary in her youth and went on to graduate from South Dearborn High School. She then attended Purdue University (to which she adds “Boiler Up!” for all of the Purdue fans out there) and graduated in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.

Mrs. Strasemeier says that her favorite teacher growing up was Mrs. Murray. “Mrs. Murray was caring, funny, kind, and simply amazed me because of how deeply she cared for every single one of her students. She took time to get to know all of her students and always had a way to make learning so much fun. She is also the reason I went on to be a teacher. My hope is to make my students feel as important and special as she did, and to teach kids that learning can be lots of fun.”

Mrs. Strasemeier says she enjoys working at Moores Hill Elementary because of the students and families, and thinks that MHES does a great job of working with each of the students, no matter what their needs may be during or after school. “The kids and teachers at MHES have become like one big family, and I look forward to being there with them each day. Our corporation has amazing teachers that have so many great ideas to share. Whether they teach kindergarten or high school, I always seem to be able to learn or gain something new from the people around me.”

We asked Mrs. Strasemeier if she had any hopes for the 2016-17 school year and she said, “I hope that during this school year each and every student gains a love for learning that they can carry with them throughout all of their years at SDCSC. I hope to instill a love of learning in all students, and hope for each student to know just how important and special they really are.”

When she isn’t working hard to make learning fun for all of her MHES students, Mrs. Strasemeier enjoys spending time with her husband, Drew, and her (almost) two-year-old-son, Michael. She says they love playing with the family dog, rabbits, and cat, and enjoy being outside as much as they can. “I love reading new books, playing soccer, and looking on Pinterest for new ideas to use at school and at home.”

Mrs. Strasemeier says that her advice for SDCSC students is something that her own students hear from her almost every single day – “In everything you do, don’t forget to do your best and forget about the rest!”

Thank you for sharing with us today, Mrs. Strasemeier!
