Kyle McGaha

Kyle McGaha, 2016 South Dearborn High School graduate, was recently accepted into Indiana University as an official sophomore student having received the TGEC (Transfer General Education Core). Indiana University accepted all 30 of the credit hours Kyle accrued through the Ivy Tech Dual Credit Partnership while attending South Dearborn High School, giving him a fantastic start on his post-secondary education. With tuition costs for an IU student this year at $10,388 for tuition and $1,290 for books/supplies, that is a savings over $11,500 for Kyle and his family. Not only will Kyle begin his college career with a full year of college credit under his belt, but he will have done it all at no charge to him or his family. The Ivy Tech Dual Credit Partnership is offered to all South Dearborn High School students at zero cost.

Kyle’s mother, Michelle Ballart, recently had this to say about Kyle’s fantastic achievement and what it has meant to him and their entire family: “I cannot tell you how proud we are of him! When he and I went to orientation at IU in Bloomington July 12-13 the advisers there were pleasantly surprised, if somewhat shocked, that as an entering freshman he actually already had enough college credits to be directly admitted to the college as a sophomore. Needless to say, we were elated. I cannot say enough about the dual credit program at South Dearborn and their partnership with Ivy Tech. They made everything as painless as possible and I will be encouraging everyone I know to take advantage of this hidden gem!”

We are so proud of Kyle and cannot wait to see what the future holds for him. For more information on the Ivy Tech Dual Credit Partnership, please visit our website: http://bit.ly/1RzKAPN
