Lauren Vogelpohl attended South Dearborn Middle School and is a 2003 graduate of South Dearborn High School where she was active in Student Government, played women’s tennis, and was a member of the show choir.
One of Mrs. Vogelpohl’s favorite memories of her time at SDHS was when the show choir traveled to Disney World to perform. She feels that having opportunities like this available for students, “shows them the benefits of a solid work ethic, consistent practice, and dedication to the larger group.”
Mrs. Vogelpohl says she took some time off after graduating and before starting her studies at Northern Kentucky University to travel with work, hold various volunteer roles, and identify what she wanted to focus on in college. She said, “Though time off between graduation and entering college isn’t for everyone, I found personal growth and maturity during those years.”
When she enrolled at NKU, Mrs. Vogelpohl chose to study communication and public relations. During her senior year of college, she interned in the marketing department of a Cincinnati law firm and graduated in 2013 with a full-time job offer. She is now in Private Banking at Fifth Third, and finds that the relationships she built during her internship have provided her with a diverse network of professionals who support, advise and encourage her throughout her career.
When Mrs. Vogelpohl reflects upon her time at South Dearborn, she says the schools instilled in her the importance of being active in your community. She says, “You get out what you put in. Our volunteer days cleaning up local parks taught me the importance of giving back and investing in the area in which you reside.”
Mrs. Vogelpohl says her advice for future SDCSC graduates is to “enjoy the little things in life, because one day you’ll look back and realize they were the big things. You’ll never get those days back, so be curious, ask questions, get involved, and never stop learning!”
