Most know her as “Chelsie from B105,” however we know her as one of our beloved South Dearborn graduates. Chelsie Shinkle began her education at Manchester Elementary School and went on to graduate from South Dearborn High School in 1990. At South Dearborn she ran cross country, played tennis, and was the editor for the yearbook her senior year. She also participated in journalism, which turned out to be a big plus for her future career.
Chelsie’s fondest memory of South Dearborn is the school itself. She is proud of its physical appearance, and she is also proud of how full of school spirit she and her classmates were during basketball and football games.
After graduating from South Dearborn, Chelsie attended Cincinnati State as well as the Ohio Center for Broadcasting. While at the Ohio Center for Broadcasting, she began interning at radio station B105. She started out in the promotions department and did some weekend on-air shifts. From there, she moved to airborne traffic. She took a job with channel 99.3 WSCH for a few years before returning to B105 to co-host the afternoon show. Now, as many know, she is co-host of the popular morning show, The Big Dave Show with Chelsie and Statt, on B105.
Chelsie’s advice to students is to dream big and work hard, follow your passion, and don’t let little setbacks derail you.
