Mrs. Leslie Sutherlin has been the South Dearborn District Librarian for two years. She taught English, and has a Masters Degree in library science. Mrs. Sutherlin did not have access to a library growing up, and loved the library in college, so while she has degree in education she chose to focus her attention on library and has enjoyed being the district librarian at SDCSC. Mrs. Sutherlin also teaches a class at South Dearborn High School. She says she enjoys being the district librarian because it allows her to see students grow and mature from kindergarten through graduation.
Mrs. Sutherlin very much enjoys reading. She reads a variety of books and takes part in several book discussion groups. For the past three years, Mrs. Sutherlin has also been on the Picture Book Committee to help pick Young Hoosier books, and reads 80 books over the summer. She then writes a book report and creates an activity for each book. Out of the 80 read, only 20 get picked for the Young Hoosier Program - but those 20 books are the cream of the crop.
We think you'll agree that Mrs. Sutherlin is a wonderful asset to the South Dearborn Community School Corporation.
