Ryan Meyer began his SDCSC career at Aurora Elementary School, graduating from South Dearborn High School in 2003. In high school, Ryan played tennis and basketball and then went on to extend his tennis career, playing for four years at Franklin College where he later became the assistant coach. He accepted a position as assistant women’s tennis coach at the University of Cincinnati. After a very successful season in the Big East Conference with UC, Ryan received a call from Thomas More College with an offer for the position of head coach of the women’s tennis team. After three seasons at Thomas More, he was offered the head coaching position for the men’s and women’s tennis teams at the University of Dayton where he remains to this day.
Ryan has many great memories of his time at South Dearborn. One of his fondest memories was one particular game of “pick up ball” with former teacher and coach Tim Tyler. Ryan thought he was pretty good, but he says Mr. Tyler put him in his place, and they continued to laugh about it for many years.
Ryan encourages students to choose South Dearborn because of the multiple opportunities the district offers. He believes SDCSC has the resources to give a young person the ability to do whatever they want in life. Ryan says he is a prime example that if you work hard enough, make sacrifices, and take advantage of opportunities, anything is possible.
