Mrs. Denise Tucker is a special education teacher at South Dearborn Middle School. She attended Judson University in Elgin, Illinois where she met her husband, Trace, who is also a teacher for South Ripley Community Schools.
Mrs. Tucker has been a teacher at SDCSC since 1984. She comes from a family of educators, which was a major influence in her decision to become a teacher, although she initially intended to become a psychologist. Mrs. Tucker says that her favorite part about working for South Dearborn are her supportive coworkers, as well as her ability to be able to teach several diverse subjects all within one school day. She says she loves working with the middle school age group because she gets to interact with the students and teach them at such a crucial time in their lives.
In Mrs. Tucker’s spare time she enjoys watching her children play sports and scrapbooking, as well as singing in the choir and playing piano at her church. She also loves spending time with her Yorkie, Sammy. Mrs. Tucker says that if she could visit one place in the world it would be the Maldives.
