Suzy Hyde

Ms. Suzy Hyde attended South Dearborn for her primary and secondary education, starting out in kindergarten at St. Mary’s Catholic school, and then moving on to South Dearborn High School. While at South Dearborn, Ms. Hyde played basketball and was on the yearbook staff. She was also named Vice President of Student Government, and was a member of the National Honor Society.

After high school, Ms. Hyde went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at the College of Mount Saint Joe. Soon after, Ms. Hyde graduated cum laude from Ball State with her Master of Science in Nursing, with a focus in Family Nurse Practice. She is currently a nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital and teaches nursing at Ivy Tech.

Ms. Hyde says that while at South Dearborn, some of her favorite memories include representing the school at the Aurora Farmers Fair as a queen candidate, being in Mr. Ron Nicholson’s class working on yearbook projects, and attending football and basketball games.

Along with fun memories, Ms. Hyde says that South Dearborn led her down a path toward success from the rigorous science courses that prepared her for college, to the numerous scholarship opportunities that are offered. She says that South Dearborn allowed her the opportunity to step into the next phase of her education seamlessly.

Ms. Hyde stays involved with the South Dearborn community by participating every year in the Relay for Life held at the high school. She also donates her time to St. Mary’s Catholic School, helping with their annual Fish Fry every year.

Ms. Hyde says that South Dearborn allowed her to obtain leadership skills that she still uses today. She also enjoyed collaborating with her teachers and learning from their experience in the classroom. Her advice to current and future students at South Dearborn, “Don’t be afraid to be different and go after what you like. Enjoy every moment, because it will be over before you realize it.”
